Rival Gaming’s A Switch in Time looks like it could be a knockoff of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast with some of its imagery. But the game actually follows a time-traveling theme that sees a 19th-century scientist journey back in time. It’s very reminiscent of the classic H.G. Wells novel, The Time Machine.
The game’s theme is unique enough to warrant playing it. Usually, the only time-traveling most players do with slots is playing Ancient Egypt-themed games. So, let’s see if this game has more to offer than a novel theme.

Return to Player (RTP) and Volatility
A Switch in Time has a return-to-player percentage of around 95.3%, which isn’t bad, but there are slot games with a higher percentage. This is around the average for Rival games, though, making it a solid pick for people looking for a game to play that may give them an average chance of winning some prizes.
Design
A Switch in Time is a 5×3 slot game with 20 paylines. Overall, the imagery isn’t bad. Like we said earlier, it looks like an animated film from the 1990s. Thus, you won’t have a hard time looking at the screen. However, we know that some players have a “3D or nothing” mindset, so we are just forewarning you.
There is one complaint about the art style we have; the game’s color palette is boring. There aren’t any bright colors, so after a while of staring at the screen, we could see a couple of players getting bored. But, perhaps, we’re just nitpicky.
Gameplay
Let’s have a look at how A Switch in Time works:
Symbols
Symbols are made up of animated images that all theme-related. Some of the symbols you can expect to see zooming across your screen include a square suitcase, a carriage, a golden table clock, a classic pocket watch, a lamp, and a pitcher of what appears to be wine.
The game’s wild symbol is the egg-timer. You can use it to finish winning combinations, and it will double prizes when you do so. You can multiply your winnings up to three times by landing more wild symbols on the reels.
The symbol featuring the red-haired woman is the scatter. Landing three scatters on the reels activates the lone bonus feature.
Bet Range
The bet range for A Switch in Time is quite large, making it the perfect game for low and high rollers. You can place a bet from 0.01c to up to $50 per spin. Remember that you need to bet max to win the biggest possible prize, but never bet more than you can afford.
Bonus Features
As mentioned above, A Switch in Time has one major bonus feature: a free spins mode. You activate the mode by landing at least three scatters on the reels. The number of free spins is dependent on how many scatters you land, but it can be anything between 12 and 78 free spins.
During the free spins bonus mode, any wilds you land will expand to take over the entire reel. Therefore, you could potentially finish more winning combinations.
