Bowled Over is a ten-pin bowling-themed slot game produced by Rival. The game tries to capture the classic experience of going to a bowling alley with the reels each acting as a separate lane. You get the shoes, the bowling balls, characters who seem to be very serious about the game, and a burger and beer after the game.
We’re going to come out and say it already; we’re not huge fans of the game’s art style. But there is a chance that the game could still provide players with a great time. So, let’s have a look at the game see if it’s a worthwhile option!

Bowled Over RTP and Volatility
Bowled Over has got a return to player percentage of 95%, which is pretty high with slot games overall. However, when you only look at online slot games, this is an average return as most titles at online casinos have a return between 94% and 98%.
The game is a medium variance slot, so the chances you win something with the game are pretty average. The game doesn’t pay out as often as other titles, but it’s not as stingy as some progressive jackpot games.
Design
Bowled Over isn’t ugly, but we can’t say the game has the best animations we have ever seen. We don’t mind titles with 2D graphics, but these aren’t exactly striking visuals that make you want to keep playing the game.
Aside from visuals, Bowled Over is a standard 5-reel, 20 payline slot game. Paylines are even highlighted on either end of the board to show you how the game works.
Gameplay
Bowled Over isn’t a difficult game to understand. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect from the game:
Symbols
Bowled Over‘s symbols are a mixture of theme-related and poker symbols (A, K, 1, J, 10, 9). The theme-related symbols include a man in a blue bowling shirt, a woman, bowling shoes, a bowling ball, and a burger and beer.
The game features an expanding wild, which is the bowling pin symbol. The scatter is the woman, which activates the free spins mode, and the game’s bowling ball symbol is a bonus symbol, which is used to activate another bonus mode.
Bet Range
The bet range is large but seemingly aimed at low rollers. Firstly, the coin size ranges from 1 to 10. Secondly, the coin value varies from 0.01 to 0.25. Overall, you can adjust your bet per spin to be anything between 0.01 and 50 coins, depending on your needs.
Bonus Features
Bowled Over features two bonus modes:
- Free spins – you activate this feature by landing three scatter symbols on the reels. The game will award you with up to 40 free spins and a 4x multiplier. The number of free spins you get is dependent on how many scatters appear on the reels. The max available is five.
- Bowling ball bonus – if you land three or more bowling balls on the reels, you will activate a mini-game where you go up against the man and woman in bowling games. If you beat their scores, you earn yourself an exciting bonus payout.
Bowled Over Final Rating
Bowled Over is an average casino game. We enjoyed playing the bonus mini-game, and it pays out pretty well from time to time. Overall, we don’t think the game features enough exciting visuals to keep most players entertained for a long time.
For these reasons, we have decided to rate Rival’s Bowled Over 3 out of 5. The game isn’t bad, but we’d hardly consider it a must-play.
