Chariots of Fire Return to Player (RTP) and Volatility

Chariots of Fire is a medium volatility slot game with a return-to-player percentage of 94.89%. The game’s RTP percentage is slightly lower than the percentages seen in other online slot games produced by competing software developers.

The volatility being medium means that the game isn’t too generous, but there also isn’t a one and million chance of you hitting a winning spin at any given time. Overall, the game pays, but not systematically.

Design

Chariots of Fire is a 5×3 slot game with 25 paylines. The visuals aren’t anything to write home about, but they aren’t ugly either. Overall, this really is your standard slot with very few visual bells and whistles.

Compared to other slots based on Ancient civilizations, we’d say the game lands somewhere in the middle of the pack. It’s better than the worst games we have seen, but we wouldn’t say that it gives a visually immersive experience. It is a long way from believing you’re competing in colosseums yourself that’s for sure.

Gameplay

Although most Rival games have a standard set of features, sometimes the software developer can surprise players with truly unique experiences. Let’s see if Chariots of Fire is one such game that does this:

Symbols

Chariots of Fire uses a mix of theme-related and poker card symbols (A, K, Q, J, 10). Some of the theme-inspired symbols include Julius Caesar, a shield, a white horse, a flag, a beautiful woman, an imperial soldier, an imperial gallic, and a crossbow.

The Roman flag symbol acts as the game’s wild and completes winning combinations for you. The imperial soldier is the scatter.

Bet Range

The betting range in Chariots of Fire is fairly large. The minimum bet starts at $0.01 and the maximum caps out at $62.50. The game is great for players with small bankrolls with very low minimum bets.

However, high rollers may be disappointed that the maximum bet caps out at $62.50. There are loads of slots that have a maximum of $100 or higher on the base game.

Bonus Features

Chariots of Fire has three major bonus features:

  • Expanding wilds – when you land a wild symbol on the reels, it expands to cover the entire reel provided a new combination can be formed if it does expand. Expanding wilds only appear on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th
  • Free spins – you activate the free spins mode by landing three scatters on the reels. You will be awarded eight free spins and a 2x multiplier on all wins.
  • Roman Victory – during the free spins mode, you can activate the Roman Victory spins. The 1st and 3rd reels will be entirely covered with expanded wilds, meaning more chances to win. The feature is limited to two free spins maximum.

Chariots of Fire Final Rating

Chariots of Fire seems like a fun game. It’s not terribly exciting, but there is just enough to make the theme worthwhile. We think the ancient civilization theme is overdone, even if the Roman theme is less commonly found than the others. (Do not confuse it for Greek-inspired games.)

As for bonus features, the expanding reels are nice, but with the game being a medium volatility game, you aren’t going to win as often as you think. So, don’t get too drawn in by this idea.

Overall, you should still have a good time playing this slot, even if only for a limited time. For these reasons, we have decided to give Chariots of Fire a three out of five rating.
